This book contains a few pages of general information, and the rest is a list of supposed prices for various coins (surely these fluctuate? Can't current prices be looked up on the web?). Also, to me (admittedly no expert), "junk coins" implies coins whose value is based on their metal content -- i.e. having no numismatic value. Investing in junk coins does not, at least to me, imply sorting through piles of old coins looking for rarities, even supposing one could obtain any piles of old coins that had not already been looked through, which I very much doubt. As for the 'coin valuation tables' which take up by far most of the book, it seems to me misleading to advertise a book as 110 pages when 90 or so of those pages are nothing but a list of prices.Product details

I thought "Investing in Junk Coins" was great!
It has an excellent history and background for defining "Junk Coins".
The buy/sell strategies are great. Keith uses very similar strategies to what I usually use but I even learned some more and the Coin Valuation Tables are indispensable.
This is a handy resource if you are thinking about investing in junk coins.
as a person who likes to place his money into things with real and lasting value, i find junk silver to be a very attractive and affordable option. however, there are many out there looking to take advantage of you if you do not know what you are dealing with. a source that provides detailed analysis of various types of coins from around the world would be a very valudable resource when collecting. in the past, scouring through literally thousands of pages of various texts was required to be fully informed. however, now thanks to this text, all the inforamtion is now placed into one convenient package. very detailed and thoroughly researched charts are provided so that any person can be well informed the next time they are making a junk silver purchase.
also, as an added bonus...a brief history and other inter4esting facts are included. however, the meat of this publication is most certainly the charts! as a very busy person with little free time...they are much needed. now, if you will excuse me, i am off to go buy some silver!
I bought the eBook and keep it on my Android phone which also has an Internet connection (current silver price) and a calculator. Why do I mention that?
The book has charts for all sorts of coins and gives the silver content as well as a formula for those who are not good at math. Wherever I am, I can look up a coin, find the silver content, look up the current price of silver on the web and calculate the silver bullion value of the coin. No guessing about the right price. A hot set-up.
The reviewer who complained about it giving prices that might be stale missed the point and should take another look at the book.
The book is exactly what it says. With governments debasing their own currency the way that they are, copper and nickel content would be a worthwhile addition for a second edition of the book.
I found the book very basic. I am not sure where to find any better info. I guess it's not a waste, I did learn a little.
